Rag Quilt Tote Bag/Diaper Bag

Today I tried my hand at making a rag quilt tote bag. First time I attempted anything like it. It was a learning experience and with time, I am sure I can get the knack of it! I didn't do such a shabby (no pun intended) job if I do say so myself! Here are a few photos! I made this one for my daughter. It's a cupcake design. I figured she would like it to carry around her camera or a few "friends" (stuffed animals).

Poll

I have been actually addicted to making new things this past week. I am looking for some great ideas for things to practice on, so I am looking for some feeback!

What are some things you would like to see me make?

The Wonder Pets Envelope Pillow

Another wonderful person I found on YouTube, which is a great place to learn things by the way, is Vanessa from http://www.craftygemini.com/. One of my first projects was a Pillow Cover.

My daughter had received a bedding set of The Wonder Pets, who she absolutely loves. The set said it was for Toddler Beds. Who would have thought there was a size between crib and twin beds....So, anyway, the sheets did not fit. The blanket and the pillow case that came with it we were able to keep and use and love! But I had these sheets and wanted to put them to use! So, I planned on making pillows out of them. She loves stuffed animals and things of that nature so I knew she would just love some throw pillows for her room. I began my research...

The finished product....one of them.

Whale I'll Be Darned!

One of my daughters loves is the whale. So, while thinking of a project I can practice on, one thing she didn't have was a whale. So, I got to drawing and came up with this little guy. :)

Wallet

The original version is a photo, credit card, business card holder. Button version can be used as a small pocket for make up, mints, lotion, medicine, etc...

In this photo, I made a kid friendly version: Added a Button and Buttonhole! Kids can tote around crayons or you can add a pacifier for a baby, etc...

Pin Cushion Owl

I happened upon this video tutorial on YouTube the other day to make this darling Pin Cushion Owl! It was courtesy of the wonderful ladies, Kim and Kris, of http://www.thediydish.com/. They made it look so easy and FUN! I gave it a shot and this was my first result...

o.O

I was NOT giving up. I slept it off and first thing in the morning, I started a new one! Took my time, concentrated on what I was doing and found myself really enjoying it. Chose flattering colors and patterns that worked so well with eachother I thought. The outcome surprised me. It came out so much better than I expected!!!

Thank you Kim and Kris of The DIY Dish!

Tu-Tu

What a wonderful surprise this turned out to be! I created a Tu-Tu for my daughter with 3 different colors of Tulle. I used White, Lavendar w/Glitter and Purple (more like a plum) w/Glitter. I used about 150 strips of Tulle @ 3" per strip for this.

I will just say this, I will NEVER use Glitter Tulle again. lol I had glitter everywhere and then some. I made it 2 weeks ago and I am still finding glitter.

End result....my daughter was so excited as you can tell in the photo. hehe

Peace Sign Rag Pillow

Here is a pillow I designed last night at the request of a friend. The edges haven't yet frayed. Took me 3 hours, start to finish, though I did have a little difficulty. I am still learning. Technically I have only been using my sewing machine for a week. ;) So, I am still learning!!!

Introduction

Hello! So, to introduce myself just a bit, I am born, raised and currently residing in Brooklyn, New York. I am an artist, a wife, a mother, a daughter.....now a blogger!

Though I am not perfect, I do thrive on being creative. Photography, plastic canvas, cross stitch, graphic design, sewing, drawing, poetry, song writing, cooking, baking...I am sure there are a few things I am forgetting to add to the list. lol I love creating things that bring people joy in some way.

I have recently taken up sewing and my list of photographs of my creations has grown drastically. I have been flooding my Faccebook. So, I decided to dedicate a blog to my crafts as well as list directions, patterns, links and even items that I would have available for sale!

I look forward to sharing with you and welcome your comments!

Warmest regards,

Rachel
